German Foreign Minister calls for UN forces to be deployed in Gaza

Israelis, Palestinians, Arab countries, and Europeans must work together to achieve the implementation of the peace plan for the Gaza Strip, said Johann Wadephul at the security conference in Bahrain.

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, during his trip to the Middle East, reiterated his call for a UN mandate to deploy international stabilization forces in the Gaza Strip. Such a mandate "is of particular importance for countries that may be willing to send troops to the Gaza Strip, as well as for the Palestinians," the German Foreign Minister stated at a security conference in Bahrain on Saturday, November 1.

According to him, Berlin would also "welcome a clear mandate for this mission," which would be based on international law.

Wadephul also urged Israelis and Palestinians, as well as Arab and European countries, to work together to implement the peace plan in the Middle East. "The main thing now is to give hope to the people in the Middle East," he emphasized. According to the German politician, this is possible if the actions of politicians align with the provisions of extensive agreements and declarations.

Berlin is ready to support the peace process in the Middle East, as peace and stability in neighboring regions serve the interests of Germany and Europe, he added.

Jordan supports the deployment of international forces in the Gaza Strip

The deployment of international forces in the Gaza Strip is one of the points of the ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas and Israel, which came into effect on October 10 with the mediation of the United States. These troops are expected to support local security forces.

In support of the initiative to deploy troops under a UN mandate, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi also spoke out. "We all agree that these stabilization forces can only operate effectively with a mandate from the Security Council," he noted. According to him, Jordan will not send troops to the Gaza Strip, as it is in close proximity to the crisis region, but is ready to cooperate with international forces.
