Poland Scrambled Jet Fighters

In response to Russia's massive attack on Ukraine, Poland has scrambled jet fighters, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported on Thursday, LETA writes, citing UNN.

"In response to Russian strikes on targets in Ukraine, the air forces of Poland and its allies have begun operations in our airspace," the statement reads.

"In accordance with current procedures, the operational commander of the Polish Armed Forces has activated all forces and resources at his disposal."

Alert pairs of fighter jets and long-range radar detection aircraft have been scrambled, and air defense and radar systems have been placed on high alert, the command stated.

"These operations are preventive in nature and aimed at ensuring the safety and protection of airspace, especially in regions bordering areas of heightened threat."

"The operational command of the Polish Armed Forces continues to monitor the current situation, and the forces and resources under its command remain fully combat-ready for immediate response," the statement emphasizes.

Poland has intensified its response to the approach of Russian drones and missiles to its borders since September 10, when at least 19 Russian drones entered its airspace. Several of them were shot down.

Since then, NATO has also ramped up efforts to protect the airspace of the alliance's eastern flank countries.
