The Israeli army announced a return to compliance with ceasefire conditions following airstrikes in the Gaza Strip. Israeli Strikes on the Gaza Strip
The reached ceasefire agreement was under threat of collapse. On the morning of October 19, the Israeli army accused the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas of violating the ceasefire, resulting in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers. In response, Israel struck dozens of Hamas targets across the Gaza Strip and suspended the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered to "act with maximum severity against terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip." The country's Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that Hamas would "pay a high price" for "every shot fired at Israeli soldiers" and "every violation of the ceasefire regime."
According to Hamas, at least 45 people were killed in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israel's retaliatory airstrikes. Four hospitals in the Gaza Strip reported the same number of fatalities to AFP.
