The combat vehicles may be useful for the PLA in an offensive against Taiwan.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has purchased BMD-4D airborne combat vehicles from Russia for 580 million dollars. At the same time, China has its own quality fleet of such vehicles. This was reported by the Chinese publication Sohu.

According to informed sources, Chinese military officials plan to study the equipment and learn from the experience of Russian airborne operations. The acquired BMD-4D will allow the Chinese army to master airborne deployment and study the combat tactics of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Chinese experts emphasized that the cooperation between the two countries is characterized by mutual complementarity of strengths: Russia shares its experience in air tactics and technology; China utilizes its industrial potential to implement these developments.

The news of the Chinese military's acquisition of Russian vehicles has already been commented on by American media, including The Washington Post. Their analysts linked this move to a possible preparation for an operation in Taiwan. However, Chinese analysts clarify that an airborne landing is considered only one of the scenarios: in the event of escalating conflict, the Chinese military does not rule out the use of long-range missiles and air power.

The BMD-4 is a Russian tracked airborne combat vehicle capable of overcoming water obstacles. It is equipped with a powerful combat complex "Bahtcha," developed by the Tula Instrument Design Bureau, and can be deployed from an aircraft in various ways.
