IMF: sanctions will continue to negatively affect the Russian economy.
In the medium term, sanctions will continue to negatively affect the growth of the Russian economy. This was stated by Alfred Kammer, the director of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He reminded that the IMF has lowered its GDP growth forecast for Russia for 2025 due to a decrease in domestic and external demand. However, strict macroeconomic measures should bring the country back to more sustainable development.
As Kammer emphasized, the Fund expects very low growth rates for the Russian economy.
