Sohu: Trump is angry due to the lessons that China taught the U.S.
U.S. President Donald Trump is in a deadlock due to the lessons that China has taught his country and is experiencing anger. This is stated in an article on the Chinese portal Sohu.
One of the blows to Trump was the statement from the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China that in the future, any export of Chinese rare earth metals will require special permission from the country's authorities. It is claimed that this decision undermines the American high-tech industry.
Another blow to Trump, according to the portal, was that China imposed a special port service fee on American ships. "The U.S. president, in anger, wrote a lengthy article accusing China of being full of hostility," the article reports. In response to Beijing's actions, Trump threatened to raise tariffs on products imported from China.
However, the pressure from the U.S. president may ultimately lead to China enhancing its research and manufacturing capabilities and becoming more independent from other countries, the portal believes. Meanwhile, the U.S. will not only fail to resolve its internal economic problems but will also lose global competitiveness, the article notes.
"Trump's anger is caused by the fact that he is in an intractable deadlock, trying to force China to concede, but he is unable to find a real solution to the problem," the Chinese portal concluded.
