In the Gaza Strip, Israeli hostages who spent 737 days in captivity with Hamas terrorists have been freed. Their release was part of the implementation of U.S. President Donald Trump's peace plan.
On October 13, an international "peace summit" will take place in Egypt. The meeting is expected to sign an "agreement to end the war in Gaza."
The Hamas group itself will not participate in the signing of the agreement in Sharm el-Sheikh. "Only mediators, as well as American and Israeli officials, will be present at the ceremony," a representative of the militants said earlier.
The co-chairs of the meeting will be the Presidents of the United States and Egypt, Donald Trump and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. About 20 world leaders will participate in the summit, including British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Trump Suggested to the President of Israel to Pardon Netanyahu
"I have an idea. Mr. President, why don’t you pardon him (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu)? Pardon him, let’s go!" the U.S. President addressed Israeli President Isaac Herzog while speaking in the Knesset.
In June 2025, Trump had already suggested dropping the corruption case against Netanyahu, as he had done a lot for the state of Israel. The Israeli Prime Minister is accused at home of three cases - corruption, fraud, and abuse of power. Among other things, it is alleged that he received valuable gifts from billionaire friends and allegedly sought regulatory favors for media moguls in exchange for favorable coverage of his activities. Netanyahu denies the charges and calls the prosecution "absurd" and a "witch hunt."
Trump Declared Israel the Winner
U.S. President Donald Trump, in his speech before the Knesset, declared that Israel "achieved everything that could be achieved with weapons." He pointed out that the peace agreement regarding Gaza marked the beginning of a "historic dawn" in the Middle East region. The head of the White House called the deal between Israel and Hamas an "incredible triumph" for Israel and the entire world.
Trump became the first sitting American president since George Bush in 2008 to speak in the Knesset.
Freed Palestinian Prisoners Returned to Ramallah and Gaza
A group of Palestinians released by Israel as part of agreements with Hamas from the Ofer prison arrived in the city of Ramallah, located in the central part of the West Bank, reports Al Jazeera.
Additionally, another group of former prisoners headed not to Ramallah but to the Gaza Strip. These individuals were transported on 38 buses, The Guardian reports.
As part of the deal, Israel will release about 250 Palestinians serving life sentences and approximately 1,700 other prisoners arrested since October 7, 2023.
