Flying ships were noticed over the Sea of Azov due to a rare optical phenomenon.

A rare optical phenomenon was captured on video over the Sea of Azov. This was reported by several Telegram channels.

The footage was taken in the village of Golubitskaya in the Krasnodar Krai. It shows several fishing trawlers hovering above the water on the horizon. "This is how our ships fly in the air," commented the video's author.

The unusual sight was a fata morgana — a rare optical phenomenon that is sometimes observed above the horizon. It occurs when layers of air at different temperatures create a kind of lens that refracts and distorts distant objects. As a result, instead of seeing one vessel, several can be seen, not on the sea, but in the air.
