This is Russia that should be afraid for its Petersburg, not us - bravado from Hermanis

"Panic has erupted again in Latvian social networks regarding a possible Russian attack. How is this possible! Long queues are forming at gas stations all over Russia, Cubans are being recruited into the army, and the Kremlin cannot figure out how to explain on television the months-long siege of a small Ukrainian settlement," writes director Alvis Hermanis on his FB page.

And he continues: meanwhile, Finnish bombers (the best in Europe) are conducting maneuvers and eagerly awaiting the opportunity to reclaim Karelia and simultaneously capture Petersburg in 3 days. Reading the interview with the President of Finland, one can understand that they will not wait for any 5th point. There is a president with balls, in both senses of the word. If Estonia (with which we effectively have a common economy, not to mention mentality) gets involved, the Finns will arrive [to help] in 5 minutes. I spoke with some Finns, the 1940s are not forgotten, the debt is not paid. They are just waiting for a reason.

The "progressive" Minister of Defense of Latvia, of course, has blabbed away the 3 years that the Ukrainians gifted us to prepare, but we are lucky with our neighbors. Western Europe is slippery and dubious, I agree. But Finland and Poland will participate in the defense of the Baltics, even if NATO is not yet able to make a decision.

Although, while Trump is president, no war here is possible. I am sure of that.

Opinions are divided in the comments. Some support this position, others are skeptical.

– Alvis, thank you for the voice of reason! Chronic instilled fear disables such an important protective mechanism as common sense, and the exaggeration of the threat from an external enemy practically neutralizes the acute need to address, for example, our internal economic and other problems.

– Yes, I agree about the balls. Our own have already been sold. But regarding war, I am not so sure, if we believe the stars. There may not be tanks, but the Russians will not do without some kind of nastiness, I think they very much regret that they did not start with us. We will see, a man thinks, and God acts. Everything happens with Him as it should.

– Well, I agree about the Finns. The Poles still have to go through this. Despite great determination and good armament, two Polish citizens have gone unanswered, and it would be good if that was the end of it!

– Any war is "good business" for certain circles. Only in countries that produce certain goods for war is it known who benefits from it. At the same time, in other countries, defense is indeed being strengthened, for example, in Poland, as well as with northern and southern neighbors... In our country, however, "strengthening defense" is merely a pretext for raising some taxes, infringing on other important sectors, followed by the "utilization" of the corresponding budget item and the siphoning of funds into the right pockets, while actually doing nothing.

– Alvi, it seems to me that you are starting to get too carried away, and your line of thinking is no longer straight. And in the comments, there are such strategists and military leaders that it becomes funny. Once again, I have to agree with the conclusion of one scholar that since the 1980s, humanity has gone down the path of degeneration.
