Sandra Bullock: Candidly on Raising Children and the Memory of Her Late Partner

At the CNBC Changemakers Summit, the famous actress shared her heartfelt thoughts about her family and life challenges after the loss.

Sandra Bullock shared her experience of raising children after the passing of her partner Brian Randall. The 61-year-old actress has two adopted children: 16-year-old Louis Bardo and 14-year-old Laila, whom she brought into her family before meeting Randall. Brian later officially adopted them.

This year, Bullock makes a triumphant return to the big screen, starring in the sequel to "Practical Magic." Her four-year career break was due to the severe illness and subsequent passing of her partner, photographer Brian Randall. In 2023, the actress's partner passed away from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Sandra emphasized that after Brian's passing, she dedicates all her time to her children. At the CNBC Changemakers Summit, the actress stated, "I did this film because my kids were on break during the shoot. I’m not going to sacrifice the time I spend with my children."

The actress continued, sharing her feelings: "They would be happy if I wasn’t around sometimes. But I can’t. It’s true. I can’t work if I know my kids might be struggling or need something, and I can’t be there."

Sandra also candidly admitted that the role of a single mother is not easy for her. During filming, she often faces internal struggles, thinking, "I’m not where I’m supposed to be right now." However, in such moments, Bullock finds strength, reminding herself, "We can do 15 things at once and get it all done."

A Story of Love and Loss

Let us remind you that Sandra Bullock's romance with photographer Brian Randall began in 2015. Soon after their acquaintance, Randall decided to adopt the actress's children. In 2021, Bullock openly spoke about her relationship for the first time on the Red Table Talk show, calling Brian "the love of her life."

However, just a year later, Sandra announced to reporters her intention to take a break from her career to fully dedicate herself to her family. Until Randall's death, his loved ones kept the information about his illness a secret. Only after his passing in August 2023 did Bullock reveal that her partner had been bravely battling ALS for the past three years.
