A Narcologist Explained Whether Non-Alcoholic Beer and Wine Are Safe for Drivers

In the last couple of years, non-alcoholic wine and beer have noticeably increased in popularity. The psychiatrist, narcologist Vasily Shurov spoke about how safe such beverages are for drivers.

According to the specialist, products labeled 0% are legally considered safe for drivers. Such beverages may contain only a microscopic amount of residual alcohol, which is not enough to register intoxication. The expert notes that if in doubt, drivers can check themselves using a breathalyzer.

At the same time, Shurov emphasizes that this does not mean there are no restrictions. Non-alcoholic beer and wine should not be consumed daily and in large quantities: such beverages have a cumulative effect, and with systematic intake, they can negatively affect health.

Non-alcoholic beer contains a dose of alcohol; therefore, for people with dependency syndrome, this beverage can trigger a relapse.
