The doctor warned about the risk of hernias and protrusions when working at a computer

By the age of 40-50, a sedentary lifestyle leads to chronic diseases of the back and joints.

Prolonged static posture during office work provokes disorders of the musculoskeletal system, warned surgeon Oleg Milenin.

The doctor explained that sedentary work causes tension in some muscle groups and a lack of activity in others, while the spine needs a combination of load and movement. The posture of a laptop user is particularly dangerous: with shoulders hunched forward and a rounded back.

The expert pointed out that when the head is tilted forward, the load on the spine nearly doubles compared to a neutral position, leading to muscle strain, impaired blood circulation, and degenerative changes in the discs. Those who work long hours at a computer often exhibit protrusions, hernias, pathological posture, and muscle-tonic syndrome.

According to Milenin, prevention depends on the organization of the workplace and work regime: a laptop should be used with a stand, a separate keyboard, and an appropriate chair. The doctor also recommended complementing office gymnastics with regular physical activity: swimming, Pilates, yoga, or therapeutic exercises.
