Spanish anesthesiologist David Kalleho recommended that people suffering from insomnia sleep in socks. According to him, hosiery helps lower the internal body temperature to a level conducive to falling asleep. This is reported by 20minutos.
According to the doctor, a natural decrease in body temperature is necessary for quality sleep. Wearing socks at night causes the blood vessels in the feet to dilate, which enhances heat dissipation and allows the body to cool down more quickly.
Kalleho emphasized the importance of choosing the right socks. Tight models can disrupt circulation, while synthetic materials can provoke increased sweating and discomfort. Loose socks made from natural materials are considered the optimal choice.
The expert also outlined the criteria for diagnosing insomnia: sleep disturbances must occur at least three times a week for a month or longer. Additionally, the problem is indicated by a decline in daytime well-being: constant fatigue, reduced productivity, and learning ability due to lack of sleep.
