Latvian TV: The majority of exports from Latvia are consumer goods — beverages and alcohol, clothing, footwear, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.

"Over the four years that Russia has been fully attacking Ukraine, Latvian exports to the aggressor country have not significantly decreased. On the contrary, in certain segments of goods, they have even increased. Experts explain this growth by saying that Latvia is being used more as a transit country, and these goods come not only from Latvia. Despite the fact that the number of local enterprises continuing to export to Russia has decreased over these years, it is impossible to verify who, despite promises to leave this market, continues to work with it — the list of these enterprises is no longer published," reported the Latvian TV program Panorāma this evening.

Latvia's trade turnover with Russia has changed in recent years. Imports have significantly decreased since 2022: from 1.8 billion euros to just under 100 million euros last year. However, exports remain at a similar level — around one billion.

The majority of exports from Latvia are consumer goods — beverages and alcohol, clothing, footwear, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. Moreover, the export of these goods has only increased since 2022.

The largest growth is observed in clothing, where the export value increased by more than 40 million euros.

There is also significant growth in the export of footwear and cosmetics. Meanwhile, the export of beverages and alcoholic products, which was already very high by 2022, continued to grow by almost 24 million euros.

The main export markets for Latvia are still the European Union countries. Last year, we exported to 201 countries worldwide, and the total export to Russia accounted for just under five percent.
