Dmitry Shepelev shared a funny observation on social media: one-on-one with his younger son, they get along great, but as soon as the mother appears, the child changes beyond recognition.
“I was good”: Shepelev is puzzled about his son's upbringing. According to him, when they spend time alone together, Tikhon is the perfect child. He eats by himself, gets dressed, brushes his teeth, plays board games, and happily reads books with dad. However, everything changes abruptly as soon as mom enters the room. Then the whining and complaints begin: the food is tasteless, the clothes are uncomfortable, dad is strict again... “Why? I was good just five minutes ago,” Dmitry wonders.
As a model father, Shepelev reads smart books on parenting. From one of them, the host learned that a two-parent household is already a “society” for the child, a place where they have to assert their position, set boundaries, and test the rules of behavior. However, next to just one parent, the child relaxes, feeling safe.
So, if the child behaves perfectly while alone with one parent but instantly becomes a little rebel when the second parent appears, this is not a sign of poor upbringing. On the contrary, it can be considered a compliment to your couple, believes Shepelev.
Now the father calmly perceives the child's tears and tantrums, knowing that this is just part of the game set up by his son to test the limits of what is allowed.
