February is the time when thoughts turn to spring footwear, but feet are often forgotten after winter. Heels suffer from dry air and lack of care, turning into rough skin with cracks. You can restore their softness at home in four simple steps.
1. Warm Soaking
Do not use hot water. A soak in warm water for 10–15 minutes is sufficient. For added effect, add sea salt and a spoonful of coconut or olive oil — this will soften the hardened layer of skin and prepare the heels for further care.
2. Gentle Peeling
After softening the skin, carefully treat the heels with a pumice stone or file. Do not overdo it — excessive filing stimulates increased skin growth. Movements should be gentle and cautious.
3. Intensive Moisturizing
Light lotions will not suffice. Use creams with urea, glycerin, or ceramides. Apply the product to slightly damp skin so that the active ingredients penetrate deeper and retain moisture inside.
4. "Sealing" Overnight
Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or a thick balm over the cream, put on cotton socks, and go to sleep. In the morning, your feet will be soft and moisturized — petroleum jelly creates a barrier that retains moisture and active substances.
Tips for Maintaining Results
- Home Etiquette: Do not walk barefoot on hard floors, use soft slippers.
- Proper Footwear: Avoid stiff backs that can injure the heel.
- Moisturizing from Within: Drink enough water — your skin reflects your hydration balance.
- Climate Control: A humidifier in the bedroom helps the skin of both feet and face.
