Recommendations for Orchid Lovers — How to Water the Flower in Cold Weather

In cold weather, there is no need to be afraid of watering orchids. The main thing is to focus not on the calendar, but on the condition of the soil.

On average, the substrate is moistened one to two times every two to three weeks, but if necessary, the frequency of watering can be increased to three to four times a month. Water only after the soil has completely dried out, using enough water so that it does not accumulate in the pot. Excess water must be drained. Do not pour water into the center of the leaf rosette, as this can lead to the rotting of the plant's base. If moisture gets on the leaves, it should be removed with a dry cloth.

The need for watering is determined by the completely dried substrate, the silvery-green shade of the roots, and the light weight of the pot. Only soft water (settled, tap, rain, or filtered) at room temperature is suitable for watering. A universal method is immersion: the pot is placed in water for 15 to 20 minutes, then removed and allowed to drain excess water.
