HR expert Valeria Domanskaya identified five signs that your career in this company is at risk, and it’s time to take proactive measures.
1. Your Tasks Are Being Reduced
If there is noticeably less work, and some of your responsibilities have quietly shifted to colleagues, this may be a cause for concern. Often, it means that management is preparing for your departure. In such a situation, it is useful to honestly analyze your position in the company.
2. Management is Constantly Dissatisfied
There is less work, but more criticism. You are nitpicked over minor issues that previously did not concern anyone. Your work methods, which were always approved, are now constantly in question. A sharp increase in dissatisfaction is a common sign that your role in the company is being reassessed.
3. Colleagues Are Acting Differently
News spreads quickly in the office. Sometimes colleagues know about upcoming personnel decisions before anyone else. You may notice this in their behavior: they communicate with you less, stop inviting you to lunch, or sharing news. If the atmosphere in the team towards you has changed, this is a serious reason to reflect.
4. You Are Being Excluded from the Work Process
You are no longer invited to meetings and planning sessions. Your opinion is no longer sought on projects, and your initiatives are ignored. You are gradually being pushed to the background. This is one of the clearest signals that the company is mentally removing you from the team.
5. You Are Suddenly Offered Time Off
If your manager persistently suggests that you take time off or vacation, take this seriously. Sometimes it means that the company is showing that they can manage without you. Or they are trying to simplify the process of your future dismissal. Of course, it could also be a sign of concern, but that is rare.
If you notice several of these signs, the best course of action is to have an open conversation with management. A dialogue will help clarify everything: either you will find a way to improve the situation, or you will receive a clear answer and start looking for a new job.
