If you want a hearty and unusual dinner, prepare potatoes in a jar with bacon and lard. The dish is baked right in the oven, absorbing flavors and leaving minimal hassle in the kitchen.
Ingredients:
- Potatoes – 600–700 g
- Onion – 1 pc
- Carrot – 1 pc
- Salt, ground pepper – to taste
- Bacon – 70 g
- Lard – 100 g
- Oil – for greasing
- Bay leaf – 1 pc
- Peppercorns – 4 pcs per jar
Preparation:
- Slice the onion into thin quarter rings, grate the carrot, and cut the potatoes into small pieces.
- Mix the vegetables, add salt and pepper. Thinly slice the lard and bacon.
- Grease 0.5 L jars from the inside with oil. Place the bay leaf, peppercorns, and a few pieces of lard inside.
- Fill the jar halfway with the vegetable mixture, add bacon, and carefully fill to the top, pressing down slightly.
- Top with the remaining lard and bacon. Cover the jars with 4 layers of foil.
- Place the jars in a cold oven, heat to 180°C, and bake for 40 minutes.
The finished dish is soft, aromatic, and incredibly hearty — perfect for a family dinner.
