Mandarins are delicious and healthy fruits, but their excess can harm the stomach and tooth enamel.
Dietitian Inna Pichugina shared how many citrus fruits are safe to eat per day and how to consume them properly.
Mandarins contain vitamins C, A, B, as well as magnesium, potassium, calcium, and fiber. However, their high acidity can irritate the stomach and exacerbate chronic gastrointestinal diseases.
Consumption Recommendations:
- Children under 3 years — 2–3 segments per day.
- Preschoolers — half a mandarin.
- School-aged children and adults — no more than 2–3 fruits per day.
The ideal time for mandarins is 1.5–2 hours after a meal, but no later than 3:00 PM to avoid intestinal upset. After consumption, it is recommended to rinse the mouth with water to protect tooth enamel.
When buying fruits, pay attention to the skin and weight: do not choose fruits with damage, dark spots, mold, or altered texture.
