The famous designer is adapting the novel by the author of "Interview with the Vampire."
Earlier, there were rumors in the media that the former creative director of Gucci and YSL is working on his third feature film, which could be an adaptation of Anne Rice's book "Cry to Heaven." Now Deadline confirms this information, stating that Tom Ford will serve not only as the director and screenwriter of the project but also as the main producer, investing his own funds into the production.
Before making an official announcement, the famous designer assembled an impressive cast, which includes both actors he is already familiar with – Colin Firth and Aaron Taylor-Johnson – and stars with whom Ford will work for the first time: Nicholas Hoult, Paul Bettany, Mark Strong, Owen Cooper, Hunter Schafer, Thandiwe Newton, George MacKay, and others. One of the roles in the upcoming film will be played by singer Adele, marking her debut in feature films.
Anne Rice's original novel tells the story of a Venetian nobleman and a castrated opera singer who strive for success in 18th-century Italian opera. "Cry to Heaven" raises themes of identity search, betrayal, love, and the quest for artistic and personal freedom – favorite ideas of Ford that he has explored in both his previous films and the fashion world.
Filming is set to begin in January 2026, with its premiere scheduled for the fall of the same year.
