Cosmetologist Olga Pozdnyakova shared on her Instagram page about five common mistakes that most people make, even when they are carefully taking care of their skin. Sometimes, one wrong habit can negate the benefits of expensive products and regular procedures.

1. Incorrectly Selected Products

We often choose cosmetics “by eye”: if the skin is shiny, we pick something drying. But oily skin can also be dehydrated and in need of hydration. Inappropriate care exacerbates the problem and disrupts the balance.

2. Incomplete Cleansing or Sleeping with Makeup

At night, the skin needs to recover, and remnants of foundation or SPF literally block its access to air. According to the expert, even if you are very tired, two minutes for cleansing should always be enough.

3. Skipping Skincare Steps

Cleansing → toner → serum → cream — this is not marketing. Each step prepares the skin and helps active ingredients work deeper and more effectively.

4. Sleeping Face Down on the Pillow

This is how “sleep wrinkles” form, leading to creases and even slight asymmetry. It’s better to choose a pillow that keeps the head in a neutral position.

5. Expecting Products to Solve Everything

Even the most expensive skincare is useless without sleep, proper nutrition, hydration, and correcting deficiencies. Cosmetics enhance results but do not replace healthy habits.
