Why Dust Constantly Appears in the House and How to Fight It

People constantly face the problem of dust in their homes. But this does not mean that the house is not cleaned. Dust can appear from ventilation, through open windows and doors, and can also be brought in with shoes.

The Harm of Dust to the Body

Excessive amounts of dust in the home can provoke allergies, asthma, and skin diseases. It consists of particles of dead skin cells, dirt, clothing fibers, and pet hair. Dust may also contain heavy metals, chemicals, microbes, and microplastics, which increases the risk of chronic diseases and antibiotic-resistant viral infections.

The amount of dust depends on the season, the area of residence, the presence of pets, and the number of inhabitants. Dust enters through windows, doors, ventilation, clothing, shoes, and animal paws.

Why Frequent Cleaning Doesn’t Always Help

  • High Humidity. It creates an environment for mold and dust mites. It is recommended to use air conditioners with dehumidification, reducing humidity to 40-60%, and to ventilate rooms more often.
  • Malfunctioning Ventilation System. In older homes or when the ventilation system is broken, dust settles on surfaces. It is important to monitor the condition of the ventilation and filters.
  • External Causes. Homes located near roads and without greenery are more susceptible to dust from the street. It is advisable to check for gaps and cracks, and to regularly clean carpets, curtains, and textiles where dust settles particularly actively.

Household Tools and Equipment

  • Vacuum Cleaner with Water Filter. Such models effectively collect dust and prevent it from returning to the air. After cleaning, the home remains clean and fresh.
  • Furniture Polish. They are effective in reducing dust settling on surfaces.
