The Myth of 'first course, second course, and compote' Debunked by a Dietitian: The Necessity Has Been Refuted

The traditional lunches of our mothers and grandmothers, consisting of 'first course, second course, and compote,' have lost their relevance for most modern people.

According to clinical psychologist and food behavior specialist Olga Khafizova, such recommendations were previously based on the need to provide energy for workers with high physical loads. However, their significance has significantly decreased in the present time.

She stated that the consumption of soups is no longer considered mandatory for maintaining health. The absence of first courses does not affect the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. Soups remain beneficial only for people with digestive issues. The combination of dishes, for example, pasta with a cutlet and compote, also does not negatively impact the body, as a person is capable of digesting a variety of foods.

Drinking tea after a meal can aid digestion, but it can be replaced with any other beverage. Washing down food is not mandatory, as the modern diet offers a wide variety of food products, Khafizova concluded.
