How to Refresh Your Bed Without Washing: Simple and Effective Tips

It is recommended to wash bed linens every week: even if they seem clean, microorganisms that feed on skin particles can multiply in the fabrics. To ensure that sheets, pillowcases, and duvet covers always look and smell fresh, there are several simple life hacks.

1. Airing

In childhood, many were made to make their beds right after getting up. Discipline is certainly useful, but in the case of bedding, it’s not always necessary. It’s better to leave it "unmade" for a while and open the window so that the fabric fills with fresh air. Even cold or rain won’t interfere: airing helps eliminate bacteria, dust, and unpleasant odors. You can keep the window open all day — the bedding will absorb the coolness and freshness.

2. Baking Soda

Baking soda is a universal helper not only in the kitchen but also in the bedroom. If your bed starts to smell bad, sprinkle a few teaspoons of baking soda on the sheets and leave it for a couple of hours. Then vacuum it up. During this time, the powder will absorb unpleasant odors and light dirt, returning a feeling of cleanliness to the linens.

3. Aromaspray

Sprays with essential oils not only create a pleasant scent but also promote restful sleep. They can be used between washes to scent the bedding. It’s easy to make such a spray yourself: mix witch hazel extract (also known as "witch hazel" or "witch's nut") with a few drops of lavender, bergamot, or geranium essential oil, pour it into a spray bottle, and lightly mist the sheets and pillows.
