The crew of the Artemis II mission has set a new record for the distance traveled by a human from Earth, flying 8,047 km farther than the Moon, NASA reports.
Astronauts have traveled approximately 406,764 km from Earth, surpassing the record of the Apollo 13 mission by about 6,437 km.
NASA has also launched a live stream of the crew's flyby of the Moon — over 600,000 people are watching as Orion orbits the Moon. During the six-hour flyby, astronauts will be able to observe the far side of the Moon and a total solar eclipse:
