The share of Windows 11 among gamers on Steam has collapsed over the month to 56%.
The share of Windows 11 among gamers has sharply declined. This is stated in the monthly report from Steam.
According to the data for February, the current Windows 11 remains the most popular operating system (OS) among gamers on personal computers (PCs). The OS share is 56.28 percent. However, over the past month, the share has collapsed by 10.43 percent. The reasons for this phenomenon are unknown.
Windows 10, on the other hand, gained 12.46 percent. The share of the outdated operating system among users on the Steam platform is 40.25 percent. In third place is Windows 7 — its share has again decreased to 0.05 percent. It is likely that video game fans have become disillusioned with Microsoft's new OS.
In contrast, according to current data from StatCounter, the share of Windows 11 among users worldwide has risen to a record 70 percent. The share of Windows 10 has fallen to 26 percent.
Steam specialists also named the most popular computer configuration among gamers. Gamers prefer a device with 32 gigabytes of RAM, a six-core processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card, and 4 gigabytes of built-in memory. The most popular language on Steam unexpectedly became Chinese: its share increased by 30.74 percent over the month, reaching 54.60 percent.
At the end of February, Windows 11 introduced a quick recovery feature and a built-in internet speed test. "Currently, no issues have been identified with this update, which is a pleasant surprise," the authors of Windows Central concluded.
