NASA: The Orion spacecraft of the Artemis II mission has entered the trajectory to the Moon.

The Orion spacecraft of the Artemis II mission successfully performed a maneuver to enter the trajectory to the Moon, NASA chief Jared Isaacman reported on the social network X.

The nominal engine operating mode for entering the translunar trajectory has been completed. "The Artemis II crew is officially on their way to the Moon," Isaacman added.

On the night of April 2, a single-use heavy-lift rocket, the Space Launch System (SLS), launched from Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, carrying the Orion spacecraft with NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen on board. As part of Artemis II, the crewed spacecraft will leave low Earth orbit for the first time in over 50 years and make a relatively close flyby of the Moon.
