The authors of the specialized media noted that Microsoft recently promised again to speed up Windows. Journalists explained that the main problem of the operating system (OS) is that it is not well optimized enough and consumes a lot of RAM resources.
The article states that the modern OS from Microsoft includes many built-in services and features at startup. These include telemetry systems, file indexing, and security functions. Programs like Windows Defender constantly analyze the OS's performance. "Add to this the integration with the cloud, such as synchronization with OneDrive, and the system will always be doing something, even when it seems to be idle," the specialists noted.
The authors also mentioned that current applications operate completely differently than before. Most programs for Windows are built on Chromium-based frameworks — Electron or WebView2. Each program launches its own engine and a separate process that controls Windows.
Journalists emphasized that due to background processes, most programs in Windows are always ready to work. However, this increases the load on RAM.
