The current version of the presidential limousine is based on the Cadillac CT6 and was first used in 2018 during Trump's visit to New York.
Today, May 13, U.S. President Donald Trump arrived on an official visit to China. Before heading to Beijing, he was greeted by a convoy consisting of two SUVs and the presidential limousine Cadillac "The Beast," reports the South China Morning Post.
Chinese social media is flooded with photos capturing the armored Chevrolet Suburban vehicles of the U.S. Secret Service, as well as the U.S. President's limousine. Users noted that these vehicles have American license plates.
"The Beast" is the centerpiece of the convoy. It is a custom-built Cadillac limousine, often referred to as a "mobile fortress."
According to General Motors, the current version of the presidential limousine is based on the CT6 model and was first used in 2018 during Trump's visit to New York.
The publication noted that the unique limousine costs $1.5 million and weighs approximately 6,800–9,100 kg. According to media reports, "The Beast" is built on the platform of the medium-duty GMC TopKick truck.
Also, it is rumored that the limousine's body, which is 20.3 cm thick, is made of steel, aluminum, ceramics, and titanium. It is designed to withstand bullet impacts and explosive attacks.
Furthermore, the publication added that the limousine's windows are equipped with multilayer bulletproof glass that is 7.6 cm thick. There is also information that this vehicle is equipped with a night vision system, tear gas cannons, smoke screens, and door handles that can electrocute assailants.
The publication noted that in the airtight cabin of the limousine, there is an autonomous oxygen supply in case of a gas attack, and a refrigerator stores blood of the same type as that of the U.S. President.
Rumor has it that the limousine can drive for some time with deflated tires. It is reported that inside there are also advanced communication tools, including a secure telephone network and means for transmitting nuclear codes.
