Microsoft announced it will revamp Windows 11 using AI, sparking controversy.

A statement by a Microsoft engineer that the code for Windows 11 will be rewritten using artificial intelligence (AI) has caused a scandal. This was reported by Windows Latest.

The public discussion was triggered by a post from one of Microsoft’s leading engineers, Galen Hunt. In mid-December, Hunt stated that the company plans to rewrite all the code for Windows 11 using artificial intelligence (AI). According to the specialist, Microsoft aims to eliminate all handwritten code written in C and C++ by 2030: “Our goal is 1 engineer, 1 month, 1 million lines of code.”

According to journalists from the publication, Hunt’s phrase sparked outrage in the developer community and among professional users, who doubted that AI could write good code for an operating system (OS). They called this practice disgusting.

After a wave of angry posts on social media, Microsoft explained to Windows Latest that Galen Hunt was misunderstood. According to representatives of the IT giant, Microsoft does indeed have a project to rewrite the Windows code using AI, but it is in the early stages of development.

“We are developing technologies that will allow migration from one programming language to another,” Galen Hunt told reporters, emphasizing that he was misunderstood. According to him, the project is in its infancy, and Microsoft is not currently planning to change all the Windows code using neural networks.

Earlier, a driver was discovered in Windows 11 that can significantly speed up the performance of personal computers (PCs). Journalists from Club386 reported that they found a driver that enables the operation of NVMe drives.
