The authors of the BGR portal have identified a common habit of placing smartphones face up as harmful. The material is available on the website of the media.
Journalists from the publication noted that many smartphone owners are accustomed to placing their devices face up when they are not in use. Experts called this placement of the device a mistake and explained why it is preferable to place the phone face down.
The material states that a phone placed face down on a horizontal surface is better protected from damage: "If something falls from above while the device is lying on the screen, the display will be fine." Additionally, with this placement, the main camera of the device does not come into contact with the surface and is less prone to scratches.
"Placing the phone face down also provides a small bonus — battery savings," the journalists noted. They explained that many smartphones do not display incoming notifications and other information when the screen is covered by the surface of the table or something else.
"The likelihood of something happening to your device while it is lying peacefully is quite low, but that does not mean you should not remain vigilant about its protection," the authors of BGR concluded.
