The Chinese company Xpeng has come under the spotlight after the presentation of its next-generation humanoid robot, Iron, whose remarkably smooth gait raised suspicions among the public. Some users speculated that a human operator was hidden inside the structure.

To dispel doubts, the company's CEO, He Xiaopeng, personally conducted a demonstration, opening the robot's leg right on stage and showing the complex mechanisms inside, which confirmed the authenticity of the technology.

The updated version of Iron represents a significant advancement compared to the 2024 model. The robot features an anthropomorphic spine, bionic muscles, and a flexible covering that mimics skin. Various actuators provide it with 82 degrees of freedom throughout its body, with the arms having 22 degrees of freedom. Lightweight solid-state batteries are used for power supply, and Turing chips provide computing power, allowing for 2250 trillion operations per second.

Thanks to the implementation of the new version of the Vision-Language-Action system, the Iron bot is capable of engaging in dialogue, moving, and interacting with its environment. Although the robot's appearance resembles Hollywood concepts, the company promises to adapt the design for various tasks. Initially, the robots will be aimed at the commercial and public sectors: working as guides, consultants, and visitor flow coordinators. Mass production is scheduled for 2026.

Elon Musk reacted to the presentation, acknowledging Xpeng's achievements and predicting the dominance of Tesla and Chinese companies in the robotics market. In response, He Xiaopeng emphasized that the demonstrated robot was entirely developed by the Chinese startup.
