Autonomous Taxis Launching in Riga

A car-sharing company operating in Latvia is launching a project for autonomous public transport: the first route is from the airport to the center of Riga.

The portal Labs of Latvia reports that the Latvian car-sharing service has announced the start of a major project to implement autonomous passenger transport. To achieve this, the company is integrating AI camera technology from Imagry, which allows vehicles to move without a driver.

In the first phase, autonomous electric vehicles will operate between Riga Airport and the Freedom Monument.

By 2027, it will be possible to summon an autonomous vehicle on demand through a special mobile application to any destination in the city.

The Ministry of Economics will help create the legal, technical, and operational framework for the implementation of autonomous transport in the country.

Latvia is becoming one of the first countries in Europe to launch a project for autonomous public transport, opening new opportunities for business, investment, and the scientific community.

How Imagry Technology Works

The system allows the vehicle to "see" its surroundings, analyze the traffic situation, plan its trajectory, and move completely independently in urban conditions. The solution can be quickly adapted to different routes - from the airport to the center or areas beyond Riga.

Imagry is already implemented in the USA, Germany, Japan, and Israel, but this is its first use in the Baltics.
