Elon Musk Harshly Criticized Windows

Elon Musk and Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney criticized Microsoft and Windows.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk joined the criticism of the Windows operating system (OS). This was noted by the publication Windows Latest.

Journalists from the media outlet observed that on November 14, an advertisement for the new artificial intelligence (AI) features of Windows featuring popular bloggers was released on social media. Many users reacted negatively and critically to Microsoft's promotional videos, including Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.

One of the first to speak out was Tim Sweeney, head of Epic Games, the creator of the game Fortnite. He requested that Microsoft allow the taskbar to be placed vertically, as it was in Windows 10, and to disable the requirement to create an account. Later, Elon Musk joined his criticism, noting that he particularly agreed with Sweeney's complaint regarding account creation.

Musk had previously criticized Microsoft's OS. In February 2024, he stated that he was outraged that a Microsoft account was required when installing Windows 11. The entrepreneur was concerned that after creating an account, Microsoft's AI would have access to his personal data.

Journalists at Windows Latest summarized that Microsoft's advertisement provoked a wave of outrage on social media. "Users are mostly hostile and angry, and some of them are complaining about real issues," the authors emphasized.

At the beginning of November, Microsoft mistakenly sent notifications to Windows 10 users about the end of support for the operating system. In fact, limited support with updates will remain for at least another year.
