Business Insider: China has become the sole leader in the global robot market.
The United States has found itself losing in the robot race, with China emerging as the world leader. This was stated by columnist Chris Stokel-Walker in a piece for Business Insider.
The author noted that China has become the sole leader in the robotics market. The specialist referred to a Morgan Stanley report, which indicated that over the past five years, 5,590 patents in robotics have been registered in China, compared to 1,442 in the U.S. The article also mentions that, according to the International Federation of Robotics, China has produced more industrial robots than any other country combined.
Chris Stokel-Walker pointed out that China has several key advantages over other countries, including strong government support. He also cited Chatham House expert William Matthews, who stated that China is the world’s factory: “Its manufacturing capabilities outpace those of the U.S.”
At the same time, the author noted that the U.S. has one advantage — 13 out of 22 companies involved in developing robotics software are based in the United States, while only two are located in China. Stokel-Walker also reminded that in January, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the creation of StarGate, a company that will invest $500 billion in artificial intelligence.
At the end of March, American robotics companies warned U.S. authorities that they could lose the global robot race. According to Fortune, their leaders called for the development of a national strategy for the industry.
