ZDNet: a way to emergency restart a PC using Ctrl, Alt, and Del keys has been found.
Journalists from ZDNet have reported on a secret method to shut down a computer running Windows. This information is available on the media's website.
According to the portal's editor, Cesar Cadenas, this method was developed to shut down the computer in case of a critical error when other methods do not work. To shut down a personal computer (PC), you need to hold down the Ctrl, Alt, and Del keys, and then, while continuing to hold Ctrl, click the power button in the lower right corner of the screen. After that, a dialog box will appear offering to restart the PC.
The media authors noted that it is highly discouraged to shut down the device this way regularly. After an emergency restart, all unsaved data will be lost. Cadenas explained that this method is similar to the more common way of shutting down a PC, which involves holding down the physical power button of the device.
"This emergency restart is useful when your computer is so frozen that it does not respond to anything except the Ctrl, Alt, and Del key combination," the article states. The journalist mentioned that he only learned about it recently, although some specialists have been using it for many years. He found a mention of the emergency restart in a post published on Reddit three years ago.
At the end of October, Microsoft announced that a major update for Windows 11 25H2 became available to everyone. The first users received it in early October.
