The announcement of the upcoming addition of erotic content to the ChatGPT neural network caused a stir, but OpenAI plans to provide people with more freedom in using artificial intelligence. This was stated by the company's head, Sam Altman, on the social network X.
"The post about the upcoming changes in ChatGPT caused much more of a stir due to erotica than I expected! It was meant to be just one example of how we are giving adult users more freedom," he wrote.
According to him, the company "cares" about treating "adult users like adults." "As AI becomes increasingly important in people's lives, providing people with greater freedom to use AI at their discretion is an important part of our mission," he added.
Altman noted that this principle does not apply to all existing restrictions. "We will still not allow anything that harms others, and we will treat users who have mental health issues quite differently," he emphasized.
At the same time, the head of OpenAI explained that the company "is not the moral police of the world" and plans to set appropriate boundaries similar to how it is done with movie age ratings.
On October 14, Altman wrote on X about the planned addition of erotic content to ChatGPT. "In December, as we more fully implement age restrictions and as part of our principle of 'treat adult users like adults,' we will allow even more, such as erotica for verified adults," he specified.
