In Latvia, 50% of social media users have abandoned at least one social network in the last three years, reported LETA representatives of the mobile operator LLC 'Tele2', citing data from the conducted survey.

Most of all - 23% of users - have abandoned the platform 'X', 19% of users have given up 'Snapchat', and 17% have left 'TikTok' and 'LinkedIn'.

According to the survey, people under the age of 39 are the ones most likely to stop using social networks.

The main reasons for users abandoning social media are low content quality, distraction from more significant matters, and excessive time consumption. Young people more often cited the low activity of friends and acquaintances in a specific social network as a reason for their abandonment.

At the same time, men were more likely than women to stop using the social networks 'Facebook' and 'Instagram'.

'Tele2' conducted the survey in collaboration with 'Norstat Latvija' in September 2025, interviewing 1,011 residents of Latvia aged 18 to 74.
