Josimar hated the nickname 'Grandma' (Vozinha), which he received from other children because he would often get angry and run home to his grandmother, with whom he lived at the time. He eventually had to accept the nickname because there was already a goalkeeper named Josimar when he played in Angola.
Before the match against Spain, the goalkeeper's career could hardly be called successful. He managed to play in his homeland, Angola, Moldova, Slovenia, and is currently playing in the second league of Portugal.
