The match between Cape Verde and Spain ended in a 0:0 draw.

The sensation of the first round of the 2026 World Cup was goalkeeper Josimar Vozinha, who defended his team's goal with all his might against one of the strongest opponents in the world.

The Spaniards are ranked second in the FIFA rankings (Cape Verde is in 64th place). Throughout the match, Spain took 27 shots, seven of which were on target.

At the time of publication, the number of followers on the official page of the 40-year-old goalkeeper had reached nearly six million, while just a few hours before the match, there were only 46,000.

After the match, the goalkeeper admitted that he could not hold back tears because his grandmother and grandfather did not live to see this moment, and he really wanted to share the joy with his relatives.

Vozinha made his debut for the Cape Verde national team in 2012 in a friendly match against Ghana in Lisbon. According to the publication 'Sports', Josimar's father named his son after a Brazilian national team defender. Josimar hated the nickname 'Grandma' (Vozinha), which he received from other children because he would often get angry and run home to his grandmother, with whom he lived at the time. He eventually had to accept the nickname because there was already a goalkeeper named Josimar when he played in Angola.

Before the match against Spain, the goalkeeper's career could hardly be called successful. He managed to play in his homeland, Angola, Moldova, Slovenia, and is currently playing in the second league of Portugal.
