Alexander Ovechkin's jersey, representing the Washington Capitals, became the second most popular among buyers during the previous NHL regular season.
According to league data, the 40-year-old Russian athlete was surpassed only by Canadian player Connor Bedard of the Chicago Blackhawks in this category. At the same time, Ovechkin outperformed Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby.
At 40 years old, Ovechkin remains the highest-scoring player in the history of the NHL regular season. He has scored 929 goals in regular seasons, and together with playoff games, he has 1,006. This year, the Russian forward once again became Washington's top scorer, netting 32 goals against opponents.
Ovechkin's contract with the team expires this summer. The hockey player previously stated that he would make a final decision regarding the continuation of his professional career after discussing it with his loved ones.
