Ostapenko moved up one position in the WTA rankings

Latvia's top racket Alena Ostapenko has moved up one position to 22nd place in the updated Women's Tennis Association (WTA) singles ranking, according to LETA.

This week at the tournament in Stuttgart, Ostapenko will defend 500 ranking points, without which she occupies 40th place in the online ranking.

The second racket of Latvia, Daria Semenistaya, dropped four positions and is in 116th place, while Anastasija Sevastova (190th place) and Adelina Lachinova (618th) fell two spots, and Beatrice Zeltiņa dropped three (622nd). Kamilla Bartone showed progress, rising 12 positions (736th place), Diana Marcinkevich lost two positions (822nd), Elza Tomase fell one spot (888th), Sabina Rutlauka moved up one position (925th), and Daniela Darta Feldmane dropped one spot (1266th).

In the top ten of the rankings, changes occurred only in its lower part: the leader remains Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, in second place is Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina, and the top three is completed by American Coco Gauff. Fourth place is held by Polish Iga Swiatek, followed by Americans Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova, with Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in seventh place, Italian Jasmine Paolini in eighth, and Russian Mira Andreyeva rising to ninth place, ahead of Canadian Victoria Mboko.

In the WTA doubles rankings, Ostapenko remains in 14th place, while Semenistaya climbed 36 spots (159th). There are still 13 Latvian tennis players outside the top 500.

The leader of the doubles ranking is Belgian Elise Mertens.
