World No. 1 from Belarus Aryna Sabalenka withdrew from the WTA 500 tournament in Stuttgart due to injury.
She announced this on her Instagram page.
"I was really hoping to get another chance to compete for that Porsche for the winner. Unfortunately, after Miami, I sustained an injury. Although I did everything possible to recover in time, I am not ready for these competitions," Sabalenka wrote.
According to the tournament's press service, 27-year-old Sabalenka's spot in the tournament will be taken by Polish tennis player Magdalena Fręch.
The tournament in Stuttgart will take place from April 13 to 19. The prize pool for the competition is over $1.2 million.
Last year, Sabalenka reached the final of the tournament, where she lost in two sets to Latvian athlete Jelena Ostapenko (4:6, 1:6).
