Washington published a congratulatory video for Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin regarding his record goal in the NHL regular season.
"Exactly one year after the chase ended," the Capitals' press service wrote on the social network X.
On April 6, 2025, Ovechkin scored his 895th career goal in the regular season against the Islanders, breaking Wayne Gretzky's record. He became the top scorer in NHL history.
The 40-year-old Russian currently has 928 goals and 756 assists in 1,569 regular season games throughout his career.
