Daily Faceoff journalist Matt Larkin commented on the future of Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin after changes in the club.
Washington broke his heart by trading John Carlson. Last week, Ovechkin called this move the saddest moment of his career and expressed some uncertainty about his future.
Will he be able to stay in the NHL for the new season but play for another team? I wouldn’t bet on it, but the chances have increased from zero to one percent,” the article noted.
In September, Ovechkin will turn 41 years old. Currently, the Capitals forward has 998 goals in the NHL, including playoff games.
This season, Alexander has played 66 games, scored 24 goals, and assisted his teammates 27 times.
After 66 games, Washington has 71 points. The Capitals are in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings and risk missing the playoffs.
