Latvian athletes will not compete for the second consecutive day at the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina, and the focus will be on the semifinals of the men's hockey tournament, LETA reports.
At 17:40 Latvian time, the teams of Canada and Finland will meet in Milan, and at 22:10, the USA and Slovakia will play in another semifinal.
Four years ago, none of the North American teams reached the semifinals; however, NHL players did not participate in the Beijing Games. From that quartet, Finland and Slovakia reached the semifinals and won gold and bronze medals, respectively.
Today at 14:10, the women's ski cross medal competitions will take place, at 14:30 — men's mogul skiing, at 15:15, the men will start the biathlon mass start race. At 17:30, female speed skaters will compete in the 1500 meters, at 20:05, the bronze medal match in men's curling will take place, and at 20:30, freestyle competitions in the halfpipe for men will begin. To conclude the day, at 22:30 and 23:07, medal sets will be contested in short track for the men's 5000 meters relay and the women's 1500 meters, respectively.

Latvia has two medals at these Olympic Games: silver in luge won by Elina Ieva Bota and bronze in short track by Roberts Krūzbergs.
The Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina will last until February 22.
