All three medalists in the team figure skating competition, namely the USA, Italy, and Japan, expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of the podium.
However, representatives of the Japanese team did not limit themselves to just statements and filed an official complaint, journalist Jackie Wong reported on social media.
Most likely, the athletes are dissatisfied that there was no soft covering on the podium, which led to scratches and damage to the blades, as the athletes went to receive their awards without special protective covers.
There were also reports of problems for other medalists. The American duo Madison Chock and Evan Bates, as well as Italians Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri, had to seek repairs for their blades.
In the team competition, the gold medals were won by the USA team (69 points). The second place went to the Japanese team (68 points), while Italy rounded out the top three (60 points).
