Belinda Bencic from Switzerland and Elina Svitolina from Ukraine have made history as the first tennis players to simultaneously enter the WTA top 10 after giving birth. In the updated rankings, Bencic is in ninth place, while Svitolina is in tenth.
Bencic is 28 years old; she gave birth to her daughter Bella in April 2024. Svitolina is 31 years old; she became a mother earlier—in October 2022—and is raising her daughter Skye together with French tennis player Gael Monfils.
At the recently concluded 2026 Australian Open, Svitolina managed to reach the semifinals, while Bencic finished her performance in the second round.
In the past 12 months, the Swiss player has won two titles at WTA 500 tournaments, while the Ukrainian has secured two victories at WTA 250 events.
