The Gabonese government issued a special decree for the complete disbandment of the national football team and the dismissal of the coaching staff.
The decision was made after the team's poor performance at the Africa Cup of Nations, where the national team lost all matches in Group F.
The decree, announced by acting Minister of Sports Simplicius-Désiré Mambou, also banned the call-up of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and defender Bruno Ecuele Manga to the national team.
At the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Gabon finished last in the group, suffering defeats to Cameroon (0:1), Mozambique (2:3), and Ivory Coast (2:3).
