Two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko reacted to the successes of American figure skater Ilya Malinin. He expressed confidence that Malinin will perform a quintuple jump soon.
Ilya Malinin became the winner of the ISU Grand Prix final held in Nagoya, Japan. In the free program, Malinin executed seven quadruple jumps. He became the first figure skater to do so.
"The main question everyone is asking is: 'What’s next?' Ilya will jump a quintuple, he will definitely jump it, and it will be a 5S (quintuple Salchow). And I am more than sure that it will happen in the near future," Plushenko wrote on his Telegram channel.
Let us remind you that Ilya Malinin is a two-time world champion. In 2026, he will have a chance to become an Olympic champion.
